Perhaps there are no greater tales of valor and loyalty than the accounts of David's mighty men. Yet even regaled by these exploits the heart is left longing for the true Warrior King who will lay down his life for his people. II Samuel 23:8-17, 24, 39

The Sweet Psalmist's Swan Song

David's last words help us look back in gratitude on God's covenantal faithfulness and look forward in hope to an even greater coming King. 2 Samuel 23:1-7

A Sword and a Savior

Although David has returned to Jerusalem after Absalom's rebellion, he is still contending with the continuing consequences of his sin in the Bathsheba affair. 2 Samuel 20 shows us that the sword has not departed from his house as death continues to swallow and destroy, but it also points us to the day when death itself will be swallowed in the victory of one of David's sons, whose kingdom never ends. 2 Samuel 20

My Boy Was Just Like Me
