Have you ever wondered how the incarnation, the birth of Jesus who became our King impacts your daily life? An event that happened so long ago reverberates into the fabric of how we live at home, work and how we go into the world. Through Luke 2:10 we learn how the arrival of Jesus changes the narrative for our lives and for the life of the world.
The most important thing for followers of Jesus is to truly "Behold our God”. When we truly behold him we see a tough and tender Savior who is delighted with his people and we will be compelled to become heralds of the Gospel story.
Isaiah is calling for Israel to return to what is solid, what is foundational to their lives. Namely, the word of the Lord. This word is eternal, unchanging, will last beyond Israel's kings and kingdom, and points to the coming Messiah. What Isaiah couldn't have known, we do today. That Jesus is that coming Messiah.
Isaiah 40 is chapter portraying the tender heart of God toward a rebellious people whose world has been shattered as a result of their rebellion. But God literally moves heaven and earth to create a highway between himself and his people, and what his people could never even imagine on their own God accomplishes through the Lord Jesus.
Because God promises believers a life of Shalom, we must not be content with receiving the truths of the Gospel, but rather we must prayerfully and strategically look to share all that we have been given.
Season 2 of Following Jesus with Christ Church is co-hosted by pastors Andrew vander Maas and Addison Hawkins of Christ Church. During the Coronavirus and all that comes with it we are hoping to continue to place Jesus at the fore, and follow him together. Thanks for joining us.
