Born and raised in West Michigan, Susan left for the East Coast to study music and writing at Sarah Lawrence College, earning her Bachelor of Arts degree. She remained in New York for twelve years, becoming part of the PCA and meeting her husband, Jesse, a Latin percussionist from Texas. In addition to her work providing music therapy at a nursing home and arranging tours for a roster of classical and jazz musicians, she served as Director of Music for Trinity PCA in Rye, N.Y.
When Susan and Jesse decided to move to Michigan to be closer to family, they sought out Christ Church and received a warm welcome from members who had personal relationships with Jesus. After worshipping at Christ Church for a year, Susan joined its staff.
Susan and Jesse have three children – Milagro, Linus and Judah. She enjoys comedians, poetry and listening to opera without distractions. Despite her ability to play many instruments and collaborating with others in using their musical talent, Susan has yet to master whistling.
